Air poppers have been around for 50 years and they’re cheap. Is the UK just finding out about these?

So how about a team cooking in hand cuffs where Jamey is hand cuffed to Ben and Barry is hand cuffed to James. Its probably to dangerous though is the biggest issue I see.

You already have everything you need to do all this stuff in your kitchen. 1. Just use a knife... Like seriously... Why do these things need to exist? 2. Use a metal bowl to cook popcorn. It's faster and tastes better than air popped by an oversized thing that just takes up cabinet space. 3. It's just another gimmicky piece of tat. If you don't already own a kitchen scale, you shouldn't be baking.

Hate to tell you guys, but that sort of popcorn maker first showed up here in the U.S. at least 30 years ago. It was all the rage for a while, until microwave popcorn came along.

My parents got an air popcorn popper 30 years ago as a wedding gift, did they not have them across the pond? Ours also had a little cup that sat in a opening on top that would melt butter at the same time as the popcorn popped.

I have a popcorn popper like this but older... Like from the late 80s/early 90s. It's a "Hamilton Beach PopcornNow Plus Gourmet/regular air popper" it has the advantage of having a small cup that suits on the top for measuring the kernels and for melting butter while the corn pops.

Vor 25 Tage

It's an air popper. Those have been around for decades. My parents had one that literally did exactly the same thing in exactly the same way, all the way down to the melting cup for butter on top, in the early to mid 80's. Yeah. Totally not a new thing.

Four-eye moriarity is right, the ability to mix things while replacing lost water/alcohol on a scale is both a rare need but incredibly useful and being able to chain add ingredients just by watching the meter is great.

I use air poppers for making big batches (30 Cups or so) of popcorn to pour caramel or other candy over. If you want a real adventure, put some safety goggles on, leave the lid off, and play dodge the hot kernels!

Good job guys and keep the content coming. A fan from across the pond.

The popcorn thingy definitely works, I just don't think it's worth taking up the kitchen space when a heavy bottomed pot would do just as well. That's my feeling towards a good chunk of these gadgets: most of them don't do anything you can't already do with the standard stuff you have in a kitchen (knives, chopping board, pot, pan etc.), but that even if they do, I would never use most of them often enough to justify the purchase, storage, and cleaning.

Salad Bowl Cutter: I'd never use it, so to me it's useless. Give me a chefs knife any day. Measuring Jug Scales: I think I'd like that as long as I can easily zero it out before adding the next ingredient to the bowl. Popcorn Maker: Nah. I grew up with one of those (as I'm in the US), and prefer my multi-function microwave or a pan & lid set. Cheers mates, keep up the brilliant work!

In sincerity, with a bit of refinement, the "salad cutter" would be helpful for persons with physical impairments to use in occupational & rehabilitation therapy. So they would be able to be independently & safely prepare their own food.

In order to be worth the space, a single-use kitchen appliance or tool has to make its assigned task much, much easier than it otherwise would be, and an air popper definitely qualifies--it's one of the very few single-use kitchen appliances I own. No mess, no greasy dishes, no worrying about improper cooking, you don't even have to pay attention to it. Just give it the right size of bowl to feed and you can basically forget it until it's done. I didn't actually know you could make popcorn in a pan until I was an adult, and my immediate reaction was "Why would you ever do that?"
